These readers work with standard cards with Genuine HID Technology™, operating at 125 kHz. The Wiegand card data is transmitted un-shortened. The reader range includes the Proximity P50M reader with Genuine HID Technology™ and the Proximity metal reader with Genuine HID Technology™.\n\nThese readers are pre-activated with 125kHz out of the box. There is no need to purchase an activation license to use this technology.\n\nWiegand output is available with a separate purchase of an activation card.\n\nThe P series readers are supplied with black fascias only. Replacement fascias are available in black and white\/gray, and are free of charge to Paxton registered installers from the Extranet.\n\u003ch4\u003e\n\u003cstrong\u003eInstallation\u003c\/strong\u003e–\u003c\/h4\u003e\nThe Proximity readers  come with 3m of cable and can be wired as shown on the control unit label. Be sure to avoid mounting on metal surfaces or near other proximity readers as this will affect the read range. The cable exits centrally from the back of the reader making drilling and mounting very accurate.\n\u003ch4\u003e\n\u003cstrong\u003eOperation\u003c\/strong\u003e–\u003c\/h4\u003e\nA token is read by holding it within close vicinity of the reader. Once a token has been read the control unit looks up the access permissions of that user. Access is then granted or denied as appropriate.
