An ABC dry chemical fire extinguisher uses monoammonium phosphate powder as an extinguishing agent. The dry chemical works by smothering the fire and stopping any chemical reactions.
To use an ABC dry chemical fire extinguisher, first pull out the safety pin, aim at the fire, squeeze the operating lever, and sweep the stream of the extinguishing agent side to side. For the best results, direct the stream at the fuel of the fire, not the flames.
